A "gummy smile" can be caused by high lip posture during a smile. The level of gum tissue is normal, but the lip is too high. This can be corrected by repositioning the gum tissue under the upper lip which allows the lip to maintain coverage of the gum tissue during a broad smile. The result is a natural smile with less gum tissue showing.
